Seals for Wooden Windows and Doors
Wooden windows and doors combine natural charm, high stability, and excellent thermal insulation. Their functionality and longevity depend significantly on the right sealing: it ensures reliable closing comfort, protects against draughts, noise, and moisture, and contributes to energy efficiency.
Precision for Lasting Function
GfA seals develops profiles that are precisely matched to the geometries of wooden windows and wooden doors. By millimetre‑accurate manufacturing, modern materials and refined profile technology, solutions emerge that impress equally in new builds and renovations and meet technical demands in the long term. We manufacture according to DIN 16941 / 3302 and are ISO‑certified to 9001 and 14001 – for the highest precision, quality and sustainability.
Material Selection for Wood Window and Door Seals
The choice of material decisively determines the function and longevity of the seal: PVC – dimensionally stable, low‑maintenance and economical; proven for standard applications with moderate mechanical and climatic stress. TPE – flexible, with very good recovery force and temperature resistance; ideal for elements with high usage frequency and changing climatic conditions. Silicone – high temperature resistant, permanently elastic and weatherproof; perfect for demanding applications with extreme mechanical or climatic loads.
Additional options:
- Foam PVC – soft, closed-cell structure for high adaptability and improved sound insulation.
- Self-lubricating – reduces friction, eases the closing process and reduces wear.
- Talc-coated – with a fine talc layer for easier installation and optimised sliding behaviour.
Our Wood Window and Door Seals at a Glance
Standard versions are available in white, black and window grey. Brown and beige are available for selected profile series. From a production quantity of 200 metres, almost any RAL colour can be realised.
The Shore hardness (scale A) defines the material hardness: low values represent soft, conformable profiles, high values for dimensionally stable versions. Available values: 30 ShA to 95 ShA, standard 60 ShA.
Structural features:
- 2‑component profiles – combination of a hard carrier component and a soft sealing lip, also possible as co‑extrusion with different materials and hardness grades.
- Pillow seals – with hollow chamber construction for high closing comfort and optimal sealing.
Our Range
- Seals for 10 mm rebate heights – precisely manufactured for narrow rebate dimensions
- Seals for 12 mm rebate heights – proven standard size for many wood systems
- Seals for 15 mm rebate heights – reliable for medium rebate dimensions
- Seals for 18 mm rebate heights – ideal for wider rebate profiles
- Technical drawing category 3.4 – practical overview for targeted selection
- Seals for other rebate heights – special dimensions implemented precisely
- Custom seals – individual solutions for special projects
Installation & Maintenance
Installation takes place on clean, dry rebate surfaces. Remove old seals completely, insert new profiles evenly and check correct seating. After installation the element must close smoothly and seal all around. Regular visual inspections for cracks or deformations, supplemented by cleaning with mild detergent, extend service life. Worn seals should be replaced promptly to avoid loss of function.
