Connector profiles and joining profiles
Our PVC connector profiles are designed for structural connections in furniture and partition wall construction. A range of profile cross-sections allows for precise adaptation to the specific connection requirements and the adjacent components.
Connection profiles for furniture and partition walls
Connection profiles are used wherever two components within a structure need to be connected to one another in a defined manner or brought into contact.
In furniture and partition wall construction, for example, they can be used between different panels, frames or structural elements. It is crucial that the profile cross-section fits precisely with the existing mounting points and the geometry of the components to be joined.
Our connecting profiles are therefore not universal connecting elements. The specific profile shape determines the installation situation for which the profile is suitable.
PVC connector profiles
The connector profiles in this range are made from PVC. This material is suitable for technical profiles
The versions on offer have a Shore hardness of 55 ShA. This degree of hardness results in a flexible profile that remains sufficiently dimensionally stable for the intended connection.
However, how flexible a connector profile actually is does not depend solely on the Shore hardness. Wall thickness, ribs and the overall cross-section also influence its behaviour during installation and once fitted.
Different profile geometries for various connections
Our connecting profiles differ in their cross-sectional shape. This allows for different structural connection scenarios to be accommodated.
The following factors are particularly important when making a selection:
- Shape and dimensions of the profile cross-section
- Geometry of the adjacent components
- Available installation space
- Width and depth of the mounting recess
- Type of connection
- Required flexibility
A profile should therefore not be selected solely on the basis of its visible width. Even minor differences in webs or mounting areas can determine whether the connecting profile fits securely and evenly.
Black connecting profiles with 55 ShA
The connecting profiles we currently offer are available in black and are made from PVC with 55 ShA.
The dark colour finish is suitable for furniture, frame and partition wall constructions designed to match. However, when making a technical selection, the colour should only be considered after the appropriate profile geometry has been chosen.
For bespoke projects, we also manufacture sealing and functional profiles from 200 metres in your chosen colour.
Selecting the right connector profile
In the case of an existing structure, it is important to determine as precisely as possible which components are to be joined and how the existing profile engages with the structure.
If an existing connecting profile is to be replaced, it is advisable to use a sample piece that is as undamaged as possible. The complete cross-section provides significantly more information than the outer width alone.
Key selection criteria are:
- Profile width and height
- Complete cross-sectional shape
- Webs and mounting areas
- Dimensions of the components to be joined
- Existing gap
- Material hardness
- Desired colour
In the case of a new design, however, the desired connection configuration should first be defined, and then a suitable profile cross-section selected.
Fitting connector profiles correctly
Before fitting, the designated mounting and contact areas should be clean and free from any debris.
The profile should be inserted evenly and should not be unnecessarily stretched or compressed. Before completing the installation, it is advisable to test the fit on a short section to ensure that the profile and component geometry actually match.
Once inserted, the connecting profile should sit evenly along its entire length and connect the adjacent components in accordance with the intended design.
Our connecting profiles
Various PVC cross-sections are available for different joining applications. The profiles are manufactured to 55 ShA and are currently available in black.
This allows structural joints in furniture and partition wall construction to be specifically designed using a suitable profile geometry.
Standard profile or bespoke connection solution
If an existing connector profile is not suitable for a particular design, we also develop bespoke profile geometries.
With 5,490 standard profiles, our in-house toolmaking facility, rapid prototyping and 17 extrusion lines, we have extensive capabilities for both standard and bespoke profiles.
This allows the profile cross-section, material and design to be specifically tailored to particular structural requirements.
