Seals for interior doors and front doors
Door seals contribute significantly to comfort, functionality, and energy efficiency. While quiet closing, good room acoustics, and a discreet appearance are the main priorities for interior doors, front doors must also offer reliable protection against cold, drafts, driving rain, and noise. GfA offers a versatile range of high-quality sealing profiles that optimally cover both areas of application—from light interior doors to heavily used front doors.
Seals for interior doors and front doors
Door seals are crucial for comfort, function and energy efficiency. For interior doors, quiet closing, pleasant room acoustics and an unobtrusive appearance are paramount, while front doors must also offer maximum protection against cold, draughts, driving rain and noise. GfA offers a wide range of high-quality profiles that reliably cover both areas of application – from light interior doors to heavy-duty front doors.
Precision for long-lasting function
Our seals are tailored to the geometries of common door frames with millimetre precision. Using state-of-the-art extrusion technology, high-quality materials and sophisticated profile technology, we create solutions that impress in both new buildings and renovations. Manufactured in accordance with DIN 16941 / 3302 and certified according to ISO 9001 and 14001, GfA seals stand for maximum precision, quality and sustainability.
Material selection for seals for interior doors and front doors
The choice of the right material depends on the area of application and the requirements:
- PVC (55 ShA / 85 ShA) – 55 ShA is particularly suitable for interior doors as it allows for comfortable closing. 85 ShA is mainly used for front doors or more frequently used doors where dimensional stability is required.
- Foam PVC (55 ShA) – soft and supple, ideal for interior doors with quiet closing requirements or for bridging small tolerances. For front doors, it is preferred in renovation projects where a particularly soft contact behaviour is required. TPE (30–70 ShA) – in soft versions (30 ShA) suitable for sensitive closing systems and room doors, with 60 ShA durable for everyday living areas. The harder profiles (70 ShA) are mainly used for front doors, as they offer high resilience and can withstand changing weather conditions.
- Silicone (60 ShA) – only necessary for room doors in special applications, such as in damp rooms or at high temperatures. However, it is the first choice for front doors: permanently elastic, weather-resistant and reliable even in extreme climatic conditions.
Colours and variants
Our seals are available in the standard colours transparent, white and black. In addition, the special colours brown, beige, window grey and light grey are available. For production quantities of 200 metres or more, almost any RAL colour can be produced – for maximum design freedom.
Depending on requirements, various versions are available: talc-coated or non-talc-coated, self-lubricating for reduced friction and as a double strand for efficient processing.
Special design features
- Tear-out bar – for flexible adaptation to special groove geometries.
- Anti-stretch thread – prevents changes in length during installation and use.
- Co-extrusion – combines different material properties in one profile.
Our product range
- Top 12 – the best-selling seals for interior and exterior doors.
- For 2.8–3.2 mm groove widths
- For 4 mm groove widths
- Special seals – tailor-made solutions for special requirements.
Application & advantages
Room doors benefit from seals that ensure quiet and comfortable closing. Soft materials such as foam PVC or TPE with low Shore hardness reliably compensate for tolerances and improve room acoustics. They prevent draughts between living areas and contribute to a pleasant living environment.
Front doors require seals that can withstand extreme loads. PVC with high Shore hardness, dimensionally stable TPE variants and silicone are primarily used here. They provide reliable protection against cold, driving rain and outside noise and make an important contribution to the energy efficiency of the building. Thanks to their weather and UV resistance, they remain functional even under changing temperatures and heavy use.
